Our team at Young & Polite Children’s Dentistry have always believed that children thrive in environments where they feel seen, supported, and encouraged to grow — both inside and outside the dental chair. We’re proud to celebrate one of our longtime patients, Ronav Korat, who recently reached a meaningful milestone worth sharing.

At just 14 years old, Ronav is now a published author. His debut book, Toothy Tales: Adventures in the Mouth, is a colorful and engaging story designed to teach younger children the basics of dental hygiene in a fun and memorable way.

“I’ve always been really interested in science and medicine,” Ronav shared during a recent visit. “Dentistry stood out to me because of how much it connects to everyday health. When I realized how many kids don’t really learn about dental hygiene until it’s too late, I wanted to create something fun and easy to understand that could help.”

The idea for Toothy Tales came to him in February 2025. He spent the next two to three months outlining, writing, and illustrating the book — all while balancing school and other responsibilities. “It started as just a small idea,” he said, “but the more I worked on it, the more it grew into something I was really proud of.”

To ensure accuracy, Ronav consulted educational videos, books by pediatric dentists, and even spoke with real dental professionals. “I wanted it to be helpful, not just fun,” he said. “I hope parents and teachers use it to start conversations about oral health.”

His own curiosity was sparked by the care he received. “Honestly, I’ve had good experiences at the dentist,” Ronav said. “My dentist always explains what’s going on, and that made me curious. I’ve learned a lot just by asking questions during my appointments.”

Ronav wrote the book with young children in mind, especially preschoolers who may not have much exposure to dental care at home. “I didn’t want it to feel like a lecture,” he said. “I wanted it to feel like an adventure.”

To help share his work with more families, we’ve placed copies of Toothy Tales in our office, hosted a special read-aloud event for children, and included information about the book in our new patient welcome kits. It’s just one of the ways we aim to support our patients — not only in their dental health but in their dreams, too.

Ronav hopes this is just the beginning. “I’d love for this book to inspire kids to take better care of their teeth — or even to get curious about science and healthcare like I did. And for me, I hope it opens doors to write more, speak more, and maybe one day work in medicine or public health.”

From time to time, we love highlighting patient stories that connect with our mission of empowering children through education and positive dental care. We are so proud of Ronav.  He’s a reminder that when children feel empowered, there’s no limit to what they can do.
